SUMMARY:The 17th Annual Nashua International Sculpture Symposium
DESCRIPTION:WHO: The Nashua International Sculpture Symposium\n\nWHAT: 17th Annual Symposium\, titled "Storytellers"\n\nWHERE: The Picker Artists' Studios\, 3 Pine Street\, Nashua\, NH 03060\n\nWHEN: May 9 to June 1\, 2024\n\n \n\nThe Nashua International Sculpture Symposium is an annual community event designed to elevate the awareness and appreciation of public art in Nashua. Through its unique format\, the Symposium allows Nashua residents and visitors the dynamic opportunity to engage directly with visiting sculptors and to experience 'art in the making'. Nashua has the distinction of being the only city in the U.S. that hosts an annual international sculpture symposium.\n\n \n\nSince 2008\, dozens of artists from around the world have created 49 different sculptures that are permanently installed throughout the city. These large\, granite or metal outdoor sculptures stand in a variety of public spaces including downtown Nashua\, schools\, parks\, neighborhoods\, walking trails\, and riverfront paths. They incorporate Art as Everyday Living\, enhancing the quality of life for New Hampshire citizens daily\, and actively contributing to Nashua's identity as a vibrant arts community.\n\n \n\nExploring this year's theme "Storytellers"\, our Sculptors are Anna Korver\, New Zealand/Benin\; Hoyoung Im\, South Korea\; Evan Morse\, US\; and KoV\, aka Kevin Percevault\, UK/France.\n\n \n\nThese artists will contribute four new sculptures that will be added to the collection by the close of the event on June 1\, 2024. To better inform this year's theme\, the Symposium is intentionally highlighting community connections with children and youth\, seeking partnerships with interested schools and organizations.\n\n \n\nThis collaborative\, three-week public event celebrates cultural exchange and diversity through creation and sharing. Curiosity and understanding are nurtured via the day-to-day interactions with our visiting artists.\n\n \n\nThere are many opportunities for individuals and families to get involved in a meaningful way and to become part of this legacy of sculpture in Nashua. Attend our Opening Celebration on Thursday\, May 9 at 5:30 PM at The Picker Artists' Studios\, 3 Pine Street\, Nashua\, NH. Visit the sculptors as they work from May 13 to May 30 at The Picker Artists' Studios. Sign up to bring a meal on the website\, or volunteer for a more personalized experience. All are welcome to attend the Closing Celebration on Saturday\, June 1 at 1:00 PM at The Picker Artists' Studios. As a non-profit organization\, the Nashua International Sculpture Symposium also seeks like-minded sponsors and donors who want to invest in the cultural\, social\, and economic value of our community enlivened through public art.\n\n \n\nView all of Nashua's permanent sculpture installation locations online.
