Business Education: NH Data Privacy Act
Please join us for a special Business Education with the Consumer Protection & Antitrust Bureau of the New Hampshire Department of Justice. Learn from the Data Privacy Unit, who will be enforcing the new statue [RSA 507-H] that went into effect on January 1, 2025, which affects all NH businesses.
The DPU will cover which businesses are affected, what personal vs sensitive data is, what it means to process data, who is exempt, what the penalties are for noncompliance, and more.
The Data Privacy Unit enforces state and federal data privacy laws to protect consumer privacy throughout the state.
The New Hampshire Data Privacy Act (“NHDPA”), RSA 507-H, creates consumer rights with respect to personal data and imposes certain responsibilities on businesses. These rights and responsibilities ensure accountability, transparency, and consumer choice by regulating how companies may handle and monetize the personal data of New Hampshire consumers.
The NHDPA provides significant penalties for covered businesses who fail to comply.
