Nashua Public Library Summer Reading Kick-off Party
The Nashua Public Library is celebrating the start of its signature Summer Reading program with a free party on its plaza on Friday, June 12, from 6-8 pm.
The all-ages event features a bounce house, an inflatable corn maze, craft activities, lawn games, a plant clipping swap, and free Sub Zero ice cream and popcorn. On the main stage, popular Boston-based cover band Straightjacket will perform top hits from the ‘90s.
The party’s activities all revolve around this year’s summer reading theme, “Plant a Seed, Read,” which invites the community to stay motivated, engaged, and inspired to grow through an eight-week reading challenge.
From June 12 to August 8, readers of all ages can track their reading to earn free books, small prizes, and raffle tickets. If the community collectively logs 1 million minutes of reading, the library will donate two fruit trees to Regenerative Roots for planting at Nashua High School South’s new community orchard this fall.
Registration for the challenge is now open at nashualibrary.beanstack.org or through the Beanstack app. Summer reading, including the kick-off event, prizes, and fruit tree donations, is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Nashua Public Library.
