QUALIFICATIONS:              With the CTE Director, the Assistant Director of Career & Technical Education plans, implements, and supervises secondary career and technical education programs and NTC courses at both high schools, and collaborates closely with the Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education to provide cohesive direction and management of the Nashua Technology Center.

1. Master’s degree in career and technical education, school administration or related area, or a Bachelors’ degree with significant experience.
2. Five years successful experience in an appropriate CTE teaching area and/or educational administration, with evidence of leadership experience.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. Certifiable in New Hampshire in Career and Technical Education
 1. Supervises, observes and evaluates NTC teachers and para-educators; supervises assigned secretarial staff and the career center coordinator; coordinates and participates in the orientation, and training. Oversees contract providers of service.
2. Assists the Director in preparing the preliminary NTC operating budgets for submission to the appropriate secondary principals; monitors and reports on the financial status of NTC courses and CTE programs.
3. Assists the Director in preparing the annual Carl Perkins Grant, including assuring grant guidelines and reporting requirements are met. The Assistant Director will work with the Director to search out and apply for federal, state and other external sources of funds for CTE programs and activities.
4. Assists the Director in leading ongoing curriculum development among CTE programs and NTC courses, in alignment with district curricula, advisory committee recommendations, and state requirements to ensure the District’s CTE programs and NTC courses engage student interests and meet the current needs of business and industry. The Assistant Director will support the development and implementation of course-level competencies.
5. Assists the Director by working closely with secondary principals, guidance counselors, and other staff in the district and community to inform staff and encourage student interest in CTE programs within a career pathways framework. The Assistant Director will work with staff to support students who may need accommodations or modifications for successful participation in CTE programs.
6. Assists the Director by collaborating with Guidance Departments to provide career planning activities and programs.
7. Assists the Director in marketing CTE programs to all students in Nashua.
8. Assists the Director by serving as a liaison between the school and the business community and represents CTE by collaborating with industry partners and community organizations.
9. Serves as a member of the Nashua High School North or South Administration teams.
10. Assists the Director by coordinating enrollments for all NTC courses and CTE programs.
11. Performs other such duties as assigned by the CTE Director.
Physically performs sedentary work exerting up to 20 pounds of force infrequently, up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but will include walking or standing for brief periods of time. Occasionally reach above shoulders, kneel and bend. Mental demands requiring decision-making, analytical and organizational skills in order to achieve work objectives, draw daily operational conclusions, solve practical problems, use computer technology and to present information for use by administration in making decisions.
