About Us

The Hellenic American University (HAU) was established as a United States institution of higher education on May 11, 2004 through an Act of the General Court of the State of New Hampshire. This legislation created a fully American university chartered in the Granite State. As a fully accredited (NECHE), international, non-profit U.S university, HAU is a leader in providing life-long learning opportunities for students world-wide.

HAU’s Athens campus, located in Athens, Greece, offers students an incredible location and an opportunity to expand their academic careers in the birthplace of democracy. Our Athens campus, run through an Agreement of Cooperation with Hellenic American College, offers a full range of intellectually engaging undergraduate and linked graduate programs taught by a diverse and international faculty that is strong in research and at the same time committed to excellence in teaching. Hellenic American College is also the main venue for Athens-based classes in the University’s Study Abroad Program.

Hellenic American University offers a full range of Graduate and Undergraduate programs that are interdisciplinary, career-relevant and culturally informed. Students enjoy seminar-style classes that encourage participation in learning, small class size, and the opportunity to study in NH, Greece, or remotely. As with all programs at HAU, students finish the program equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to lead them on a successful career path.
