Humane Society for Greater Nashua Launches Public Phase of $8 Million Capital Campaign
Major Expansion Planned to Meet Skyrocketing Community Demand for Affordable Veterinary Care
Nashua, NH—The Humane Society for Greater Nashua (HSFN) is thrilled to announce the public phase of its $8 million capital campaign to fund a transformative expansion of its facility. With $6.8 million already raised—including a $1 million matching challenge that can be unlocked with the next $1 million in donations—HSFN invites the community to help close the gap and bring this vision to life.
Since 2014, HSFN has been committed to increasing access to affordable veterinary care. Despite significant progress in expanding staffing and acquiring new equipment, the organization has faced two critical barriers: outdated state laws limiting services and the constraints of an aging, overcrowded facility.
In 2022, HSFN successfully advocated for legislative changes that allow the organization to provide comprehensive, affordable veterinary services. With this milestone achieved, HSFN is ready to address its space limitations through a game-changing expansion.
The planned 10,000-square-foot Humane Care Center will transform HSFN's ability to serve pets and families across Southern New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts. The state-of-the-art facility will feature:
• Expanded veterinary services, including diagnostics, spay/neuter procedures, vaccinations, and essential care for both shelter animals and owned pets
• Modern training facilities where dogs of all ages can participate in obedience classes led by HSFN's expert Manager of Behavior and Training
• New dog kennels specifically designed to reduce stress and mitigate disease spread
• Critical renovations to the existing building
The expansion will allow HSFN to serve a greater amount of both community and shelter pets as well as expand upon services and programs. Anticipated numbers for community pets alone include:
• 2,500 pets seen by veterinary team for medical care
• 1,500 pets receiving annual vaccinations
• 1,800 spay and neuter surgeries
• 2,500 dogs participating in behavioral training classes
The campaign’s $8 million goal includes a unique opportunity for supporters: a generous $1 million matching challenge that will be unlocked once HSFN raises the next $1 million. Every dollar donated during this public phase will help unlock this critical funding, propelling the project forward.
“This expansion will profoundly impact how we care for animals and provide vital services to our community,” Doug Barry, President & CEO added. “We’re calling on our friends and neighbors in Southern New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts to help us cross the finish line.”
The public phase launches on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Learn more and contribute at https://www.hsfn.org/building-expansion/ or contact Olivia Echteler, Director of Community Engagement, at 603-889-2275, ext. 36 or olivia@hsfn.org.
Together, we can make this vision a reality—for the pets and families in our community.
